Dear Neighbor Letter

Dear Neighbor,

Are you tired of electing politicians who give the impression that they’re working for you when in fact their voting habits reveal exactly the opposite? I am. Would you like lower taxes, more cooperation in Augusta, and our voices to be heard? I would! That is why I am running for office.

My name is Guy Lebida, and I am your candidate for the Maine House for Bowdoin, Bowdoinham and Richmond. I am not a politician; I am a small business owner with 40 years of experience, a veteran, and a concerned citizen. We need a House Representative who will truly represent your voice in Augusta; one who will focus on enabling job growth, one who will lower the tax burden so Mainers can be more prosperous, and one who will defend your individual liberty. I will be that Representative.

We all are impacted by the votes of those we choose to represent us. There are a few issues, on the back of this letter, about which my opponent and I have different views. Please take a look and you can find more information on my website. Feel free to contact me any time. I would like to hear about the issues that concern you.

Maine people are among the highest taxed in the country. Our education and infrastructure systems need to be improved. Our workforce wants better jobs and our employers need the opportunity to grow. Maine is at a critical junction; do we continue to move Maine forward to greater prosperity OR do we go back to higher taxation, more spending and bigger government? I believe we need to move Maine forward to greater prosperity. That is why I am running to be your House Representative. I would be honored to earn your vote on November 6th.

Rep. Berry voted AGAINST expanding learning opportunities for students, school choice, and competition in education. I support parents and students having greater school choice and believe we need to provide the best education that meets the need of each individual student. NOT a one-size-fits-all program. Let’s make education a priority and make sure our students have greater opportunities for success. LD 1158: "An Act to Remove the Limit on the Number of Public Charter Schools That May Be Approved” Seth Berry voted OUGHT NOT TO PASS!

Rep. Berry voted AGAINST a renewable energy source that would lower our energy costs and FAVORS RAISING ratepayer’s electricity fees so that solar customers could get their energy cheaper and without fees!

I support policy that will lower our electricity bills such as removing the limit on hydro energy and I oppose policy that favors one group of people at the expense of another group of people as in Berry’s solar bill.

LD 532: "An Act to remove the 100-megawatt Limit on Hydroelectric Generators under the Renewable Resources Laws"

Seth Berry voted OUGHT NOT TO PASS! LD 1373: “An Act to Protect and Expand Access to Solar Power in Maine"

Rep. Berry was 1 of 37 who voted AGAINST restoring the tip credit and helping working people earn a decent living. In 2017, Rep. Berry voted to make Maine have the 2nd highest top individual income tax rate in the country!

I would have joined the 110 people who voted in FAVOR of restoring the tip credit so that tip earners wouldn’t see a loss of income. While Seth Berry wants Maine to have higher taxes that harm our economic opportunities, I support lowering the tax burden on all Maine people and will work towards eliminating the income tax so that hard working Mainers can keep 100% of what they earn!

LD 673: "An Act to Restore the Tip Credit to Maine's Minimum Wage Law" Seth Berry voted NO on OUGHT TO PASS! ‘@BerryForMaine Facebook Page, November 1st, 2017, Berry says he voted for the 3% income tax increase

Rep. Berry voted AGAINST making female genital mutilation a crime in Maine. He also voted AGAINST increasing the penalty of aggravated sex trafficking.

I just can’t see how anyone could vote against these common sense bills that would protect our girls and those affected by sex trafficking. We need to support policy that will help deter crimes such as these. I would have voted in favor of both of these bills. LD 250: "An Act to Increase the Penalty for Aggravated Sex Trafficking" Seth Berry voted OUGHT NOT TO PASS!

LD 745: “An Act to Prohibit Female Genital Mutilation” Seth Berry voted AGAINST it's passage!
